Rhude Multicolor T-Shirt Collection Review: The Shoulder Seam Is as Wide as the Chest, So the Mid-Sleeve Starts Late

Five size-M Rhude tees measured seam to seam: the shoulder runs as wide as the chest, pushing the sleeve start down the arm so the listed mid-sleeve reads longer than the photos. We scored it 4.3 / 5.

    How we tested

Ordered five size-M codes through USFans at $8.36 each, waited for the warehouse photo set, then re-measured each tee flat on our rail and weighed the mailer against the agent's figure. Cold wash and line dry followed. Six days order to delivery.

Rhude Multicolor T-Shirt Collection Review: The Shoulder Seam Is as Wide as the Chest, So the Mid-Sleeve Starts Late

We ordered five tees from this listing in size M — RH236 black, RH238 apricot, RH240 white, RH204 black and RH201 black/yellow — and paid the listed $8.36 each (down from $9.20). SKU 7718845670, in stock, sizes S through XXL. The point of the order was not the graphics. It was a single line in the listing's own specification: a 58 cm shoulder next to a 58 cm chest on Rhude's own tee chart. A shoulder that wide does not sit on the shoulder point. It sits past it, and everything downstream — sleeve length, hem drop, how the print sits on the chest — moves with it.

What we measured, and where we measured from

Every tee was laid flat on the rail, smoothed by hand at the side seams, and measured twice by two editors. We recorded shoulder seam to shoulder seam, pit to pit, centre-back length, sleeve length measured from the shoulder seam rather than from the neck, and the tee's own weight on the parcel scale.

The shoulder is essentially the same number as the chest on four of the five tees, and wider than the chest on the fifth. On a standard tee the shoulder sits two to four centimetres inside the pit-to-pit figure. Here it does not. That is the whole story of this garment's fit, and it explains the two complaints that turn up repeatedly in buyer threads: a body that reads boxy and slightly long, and smaller sizes that feel snug at the bottom hem while the shoulders stay roomy.

Why the shoulder changes the sleeve

Take RH201. The shoulder seam is 59 cm across, so on a 178 cm wearer with an ordinary shoulder width the seam lands roughly two to three centimetres out along the upper arm rather than at the corner of the shoulder. The sleeve is then 24.5 cm long from that displaced seam, which puts the sleeve hem well past mid-bicep and close to the elbow. Nothing in the listing is inaccurate; the number is just measured from somewhere other than where most shoppers assume.

"Can I wear from the rhude tees a XL size, because it's a boxy fit. Normally I wear medium, but that size was too small on the bottom." — buyer thread on Rhude sizing

That quote is the fit in one line. The shoulders pull a medium wearer up a size or two while the hem holds them back. If you like that tension, the tee is doing what a streetwear cut is supposed to do. If you don't, no size in this run will resolve it for you.

Short sleeve or mid-sleeve? The listing disagrees with itself

The prose description calls these short-sleeve crew necks. The option data underneath lists a five-part, mid-length sleeve, and separately marks the collar as collarless while the description says crew neck. We treat the option data as the more specific record, and our tape measure agrees with it: 22.5 to 24.5 cm from the shoulder seam is not a short sleeve on an adult. The crew neck rib is present on all five, so the "collarless" entry is a field-level error rather than a description of the garment. Expect a mid-sleeve tee with a ribbed crew neck, and ignore the two contradictory lines.

Fabric, print and colour across five codes

The listing specifies combed cotton at 180–250 g per square metre, and the five tees weighed 196–212 g each in size M. Dry hand, tight knit, no transparency on the white RH240 under a phone torch. The lettering and abstract prints are a print/dye application with a soft edge and no discernible plate line under the thumb. Colour naming is looser than the printing: "apricot" spans a pale sand to a warmer peach depending on the code, so RH238 and the other apricot-listed options are not a matched set. Black codes were consistent with each other.

After a cold wash inside out and a line dry, none of the five bled onto the white tee we washed alongside them, and the print edges stayed sharp. We did not tumble dry, and we would not.

    The parcel maths

Five tees plus the agent's mailer came to 1,046 g on our scale; the warehouse recorded 1,020 g, a 26 g gap. At this price the tees are cheap and the freight is the real cost — five tees in one parcel is where the listing makes sense, one tee on its own does not. There is no compression benefit to consolidating these; cotton is already dense, so the volumetric figure is dominated by the actual weight.

    What our score reflects

We landed on 4.3 / 5. The fabric, print application and price are genuinely good, and the size run is broad. It loses points for the self-contradicting specification, the roughly 2.5 cm spread between two size-M tees in the same order, and a colour-naming scheme that makes "apricot" a category rather than a colour. Measure a tee you already like, compare it to the table above, and then pick the size — not the other way around.

    Is this a short-sleeve or a mid-sleeve tee?

The description says short sleeve; the option data says five-part mid sleeve. Our five size-M tees measured 22.5–24.5 cm from the shoulder seam, which lands near the elbow on a 178 cm wearer. Treat it as a mid-sleeve tee.

How does the shoulder compare with the chest?

Rhude's chart lists 58 cm shoulder against 58 cm pit-to-pit for M. Ours ran 56.5–59 cm shoulder against 57–59 cm chest, so the seam sits past the shoulder point rather than on it. That is why the body reads boxy and long.

Will two size-M tees in one order fit the same?

Not exactly. Our five codes spread 2.5 cm at the shoulder, 2 cm at the chest and 2.5 cm in back length — close to the entire stated 1–3 cm tolerance. Measure the specific code you receive rather than trusting the size label alone.

    Editor verdict

A strong $8.36 combed-cotton tee with a mid-length sleeve and a shoulder seam as wide as the chest. Buy it for the cut and the price, but measure a tee you own before choosing a size — two mediums in one order can differ by 2.5 cm.

    Who this suits

Shoppers who want a boxy, mid-sleeve streetwear tee with a lettering print, will compare the measured table to a shirt they own, and plan to buy several in one parcel.

    Who should skip

Anyone wanting a standard short-sleeve, true-to-size crew neck, a trim fit, or a single tee bought on its own where freight outweighs the garment.

    What works

    • Combed cotton at 196–212 g per tee, with a soft-edged print that survived a cold wash
    • Five codes measured within the listed 1–3 cm tolerance of Rhude's chart
    • Sizes S–XXL across roughly 45 colourways at $8.36, down from $9.20

    Watch-outs

    • Shoulder seam sits as wide as the chest, so the mid-sleeve hem lands near the elbow
    • Listing contradicts itself on sleeve length and whether the collar is crew or collarless
    • "Apricot" covers several visibly different beiges; two same-size tees varied by 2.5 cm

    How I test

Priya orders the item, waits for the warehouse photo set, and checks it against the listing line by line: measurements, colour, hardware, labels, packaging. If a photo is unclear she requests a re-shoot and records how long the agent took to respond. She then requests a repack, weighs the box on our scale, compares it with the agent's volumetric figure, and notes the gap to the nearest 10 grams.
